St Lucia and Barbados top on list for overseas weddings

A wedding in paradise is becoming an increasingly popular option for UK couples wanting to tie the knot abroad. According to a recent survey carried out by American Express Travel, St Lucia is now the Number 1 destination for overseas weddings, with Barbados coming in a close second.
With regular scheduled and charter flights to the Caribbean, it is becoming ever easier to say ‘I do’ in an idyllic setting. Almond Resorts hotels are very popular with British couples getting married, owing to their fantastic wedding and honeymoon packages and facilities.
Almond Resorts operates three premier all-inclusive four-star hotels on Barbados and St Lucia. Choose from the family friendly Almond Beach Village or the adults-only Almond Beach Club & Spa, both located on the prestigious west coast of Barbados, or the newly opened Almond Morgan Bay on St Lucia’s west coast. Almond has now broadened its on-site wedding facilities, and weddings can take place at a choice of locations including the hotels’ beaches or tropical gardens, in the oldest sugar mill on Barbados, which is located at the Almond Beach Village, or in a hilltop or over-water gazebo at Almond Morgan Bay on St Lucia.
Almond Resorts can also organise weddings at separate locations on the islands should guests wish to marry off property.
A range of optional wedding extras are available, including a gospel choir and steel pan band, a private beach barbecue or an exclusive, romantic dinner for two on the beach, and special spa package extras.
In addition, a number of rooms at the hotels have been converted into honeymoon suites with four-poster beds and hot tubs to create a truly romantic ambience for newlyweds, honeymooners, or couples wanting to rekindle the romance.
All three of the Almond Resorts hotels are located on the beachfront, and offer fresh water swimming pools, water sports with free tuition, fitness centres, spa treatments available at a locally payable cost, children’s clubs at the two family-friendly properties and nightly entertainment. The hotels also offer a choice of a la carte restaurants serving gourmet cuisine and bars offering premium brand named drinks.
Ten night holiday packages at the Almond Beach Club & Spa are priced from £1159 per person, for stays between 1 September and 12 October 2006.
