At Almond Resorts, dining is an integral part of the vacation experience. Today’s travelers are savvier than ever and most are looking for more than just beach and poolside fun. Whether guests choose elegant, upscale dining or savory seaside snacks, each of Almond Resorts’ fourteen restaurants offer diners an authentic way to learn more about the flavors of the Caribbean. Each meal is expertly prepared using the freshest foods available in the Caribbean. From flavorful native spices, home-grown fruits and vegetables ripened by the sun, fresh seafood caught daily and local delicacies – dining at Almond Resorts is a lesson in the culture, history and cuisine of the West Indies.
Guests staying at either of Almond Resorts’ sister properties in Barbados, Almond Beach Club & Spa and Almond Beach Village are welcome to use the facilities and restaurants at both properties and traveling between the two is easy with the complimentary round-trip shuttle service. Together the resorts’ decadent dining options include eight main restaurants, formal afternoon British-style tea, hors d’oeuvres served daily, early morning coffee, juice and pastries, anytime snacks, room service (lunch and dinner), Caribbean Beach parties, picnics, barbecues and nine full service bars. Almond guests will have even more dining options in Barbados when Almond Casuarina Beach Resort opens at the end of 2006.
Sunset Restaurant is Almond Beach Club & Spa’s main restaurant and serves three delectable meals a day. Breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10:00am and offers a grand buffet with made-to-order omelets. Lunch is also served buffet style from noon to 2:00pm and offers favorite lunchtime staples like hamburgers, hot dogs and sandwiches as well as separate a la carte menu with waitress service offering daily specials and local dishes. Dinner at Sunset is a special treat with gourmet classic continental cuisine being served from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. No reservations are required.
Enid’s Restaurant at Almond Beach Club & Spa
Legend has it that Enid was an old local woman who was known for the best food in Barbados. Each day she would carry her wares into the capital city of Bridgetown and sell her delicious homemade delicacies by the side of the road. Today, Enid is immortalized forever with specialty restaurants named in her honor at both Almond Resort properties. Enid’s at Almond Beach Club & Spa is the resort’s signature restaurant and serves up the most incredible authentic Bajan cuisine available in Barbados nightly from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Guests can take home the secrets of Bajan cooking at culinary classes, which are available at Enid’s. Reservations are required.
The Water’s Edge at Almond Beach Club & Spa is the resort’s newest addition. This beautiful and upscale open-air restaurant overlooks the brilliant Caribbean Sea; guests dine on the finest and freshest seafood by candlelight under a star filled sky. Open from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, reservations are required.
The Horizon Restaurant is Almond Beach Village’s main restaurant, which offers a panoramic view of the celebrated Caribbean Sea and serves three delicious meals a day. Breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10:00am and offers a full buffet with made-to-order omelets. Lunch is from noon to 2:00pm and offers an a la carte menu of casual selections of dishes from salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, as well as Bajan specials which change daily.
The Horizon Restaurant earns its name at dinner when the restaurant is filled with the crimson light of the setting Caribbean sun. Dinner is a la carte from a different menu each night with a decadent international buffet on Tuesdays and a sizzling barbecue on Saturday nights. Horizons specializes in classic continental cuisine and serves dinner from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. No reservations are required.
The Reef is a beautiful al fresco restaurant situated directly on the beach at Almond Beach Village. With magnificent views of the white sand beaches and turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, The Reef offers vacationers casual ocean-side dining for breakfast, lunch and snacks and in the evening, The Reef offers decadent fine dining and the freshest seafood available in the Caribbean. Open for a buffet lunch and an a la carte dinner. Reservations are required for dinner only.
The Boardwalk Bar & Grill
From hot dogs and hamburgers to sandwiches and pizza, the Boardwalk Bar & Grill is open daily for lunch and snacks. With a full menu of casual fare, this is a wonderful alternative for guests who don’t want to leave the beach for lunch. It’s perfect for a quick bite, a great drink, a tempting treat or an afternoon snack.
Enid’s Restaurant at Almond Beach Village
Enid’s Restaurant at Almond Beach Village is the resort’s very own special tribute to the incredible down-home Bajan cuisine favored by locals and tourists throughout the Caribbean. From island favorites like fish stew, macaroni pie and rice and peas to fantastic fried chicken, Enid’s is a taste of Barbados at its very best. Weekly cooking classes are offered at Enid’s to take home some of the Bajan culinary delights. Open for dinner, Enid’s is not to be missed.
For a true taste of Italy, La Smarrita at Almond Beach Village serves authentic Northern Italian cuisine nightly from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The sophisticated atmosphere, along with rich Roman décor, fine linens and elegant china make dining at La Smarrita an elegant and unforgettable treat. Fresh seafood, homemade pasta, steak and poultry are specialties of the house and are served festively by a gracious and elaborately costumed staff. Reservations are required. This restaurant is adults only.
Serving family and kid-friendly food like pizzas, pasta, hamburgers and hot dogs from noon to 8:00pm, the Courtyard Grill also has a full bar service, with premium brand drinks, mixed cocktails and soft drinks, all of which are included in the resort’s all-inclusive program.
Continental specialties are the order of the day at The Palm, which is the main restaurant at Almond Morgan Bay. A full buffet breakfast, and a la carte lunch and dinner are served daily in this wonderfully relaxed, airy restaurant with a view of the resort’s lush tropical gardens set against a backdrop of the turquoise and blue Caribbean.
The fusion cuisine created by the Chef at Bambou, is a mouth-watering blend of Caribbean and Asian flavors, a delightful change from the ordinary. The waterfront restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are required for dinner only.
True to its name, Morgan’s Pier is dramatically situated in the middle of the bay. Fresh seafood specialties like Smoked Tuna with Dasheen Chips, Jerk Grouper with Pawpaw Salsa and Coconut Ceviche with Mahi, Lime and Chili, are the focus at this restaurant which is open for dinner, only. Oversized lobsters are offered as a menu option for a small supplemental charge. Mouth-watering desserts like Tropical Trifle, Fruit Fondue and Pineapple Rum Babas top off the Morgan’s Pier menu offerings. Reservations are required for this restaurant.
The mellow, setting of Le Jardin sets the stage for the lively tongue-teasing flavors of the restaurant’s French Creole cuisine and reflecting the flavors of St. Lucia, from Green Figs and Salt Fish, St. Lucian Bouyon to Accras de Morue (salted codfish cakes), Red Snapper Creole and Sweet & Sour Pork Chop with Island Gratin and Guava Glaze. Le Jardin’s elegant dessert offerings include Caramel Bananas and Chef Deborah’s Coconut Pie with Vanilla Creme Anglaise. Open each evening at 6:30pm, Le Jardin serves dinner and then melts into the wee hours with live piano music and a welcoming bar service. Le Jardin is an “adults only” restaurant and reservations are required.
Located in the Kids Club area and serving family and kid-friendly food like pizzas, hamburgers and hot dogs from noon to 8:00pm, the Plum Tree also has a full bar service, with premium brand drinks and mixed cocktails for adults only, fruit juices and soft drinks, all of which are included in the resort’s all-inclusive program.
Afternoon tea is a specialty of Almond Resorts and is offered daily from 3:00pm to 4:30pm at all Almond Resorts properties. With fresh sweet and savory pastries, scones, finger sandwiches and over 15 varieties of teas available, this very British tradition is a favorite among guests.
Because dining is considered an experience at Almond Resorts, all guests are requested that they follow our “dress up for meals” dress code, which is strictly maintained at all of the resorts group’s restaurants. A cover-up or t-shirt must be worn over swim wear. At dinner, dress is “informally formal”, no shorts or shorts set outfits allowed, with the exception of barbecue nights. No bare feet, please.
Throughout the year, Almond Resorts welcomes celebrity chefs for culinary weekends, called “A Taste of Almond” at the various resorts. These culinary extravaganzas feature the celebrity chefs, along with Almond Resorts’ culinary team, creating meals from their restaurants and melding it to the cuisine of Barbados or St. Lucia.
